AT&T U-verse only good I can say about them is COMCAST is just as bad!! - AT&T Home phone


I had internet & TV and decided to switch my home phone to them. I ordered on July 10, it was supposed to be operational on July 14, 2014. On the 14th I tried setting it up but no service. I called their support and spoke to someone with really bad English and finally found that they had transferred the wrong number. So everything was then set for the 17th, again no service. I spoke to someone, again really hard to understand and they transferred me up a level. Couldn't tell me what the problem was but promised to call me back within 30 mins. and explain what was happening. Never called. I called on the 18th and was told it would now be 3 days later since porting a number by law takes 3 days. This went on until finally on Aug 14th I got service. At least 4 supervisors promised they would call back but none ever did. Then I got the billing statement. I was quoted $138.95 for the bundled service and no installation fee. I was billed $282.00!! I spoke to a billing person who like every tech assured me they could fix the problem. Of course entered into their system was a different price. The best they could do was $149. He then transferred me to an upper level person who was very rude and told me they always confirm what they say on the phone. He sent me 3 different confirmations and lo, the first was $138.95. He refused to change my billing to agree with what was quoted and in writing, BTW the way, that was the first I had seen the confirmations. He also assured me a confirmation would be emailed but never was. After spending at least 8 hours over the month on the phone with these people, I can only hope that somewhere, someplace their are real upper management folks looking at why they are so bad. I again say, the only good I can say is that COMCAST is no better.
